Bernadette Arena is a Yoga & Meditation teacher, a lecturer and group facilitator.
I have been teaching Yoga, meditation and mindful movement for over 25 years. And I am still fascinated with it!
Since 1993 I’ve learned from working with people of all ages, cultures, backgrounds and abilities and it’s helped me develop skills to serve them in useful ways.
Collaborating with organisations such as the NSW Health, the Benevolent Society and the Compassionate Friends, has given me a deep understanding of personalised and tailored movement and meditation practices. Especially for people living with the significant life challenges like grief and loss, cancer and serious illnesses, as well as the everyday grind of anxiety and depression.
I ran weekly classes in Sydney for over 20 years and one of them - a group of older women who have been with me since the beginning - is still going. I think this is one of the longest running yoga classes in Australia.
Living in the UK for 5 years, from 2001, I taught taught retreats, workshops, classes and at festivals across the UK and in Europe.
I have a close association with the International Yoga Teachers Association (IYTA) and for many years was a senior lecturer on the Yoga Teacher Training Course.
In January 2006 I joined the Quest for Life Foundation and am a senior Facilitator on our residential and specialty programs. This continues to be one of the great joys of my life!

Teaching & Training
As teachers we will have people in our class with cancer or a history of cancer. Or living with the effects of cancer treatment and working their way through the emotional journey that accompanies a serious diagnosis.
For the past 13 years, through the Quest for Life Foundation, I have worked closely with people living with cancer and other life threatening illnesses.
Teaching mindful movement and yoga, deep relaxation and meditation in a residential setting, over a course of a week, has helped me develop practices that really support people living with serious illness.
A post graduate training and support program for yoga teachers will be offered in July 2019.
